As the summer heat continues throughout the Sunshine State, Florida Power & Light is providing some tips to alleviate the cost to cool down.
According to FPL, 60% of a person's energy bill can come from cooling costs.
To try and save some money, while staying refreshed, FPL is provided the following tips:
Set your thermostat between 75 and 78 degrees while at home
Use a ceiling fan
Check windows for drafts and seal them to avoid unwanted heat
Use smaller appliances to use less energy
Wash clothes with cold water
Keeping the temperature inside the home at a consistent temperature is one way to save money. FPL said that every degree that is raised on the thermostat could save a person 3-5% on their monthly cooling costs.
