HARVEY, La. (WGNO)— The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a murder-suicide that happened Monday night in Harvey.

According to deputies, around 11:30 p.m. on July 28, they were called to the 500 block of 3rd Avenue in response to a shooting.

Responding deputies arrived to find a man and woman in the street suffering from gunshot wounds.

The man was pronounced dead on the scene from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to JPSO deputies. They add that a gun was found near his body.

The woman was taken to a hospital where she later died.

The Jefferson Parish Coroner's Office will release the identities of the suspect and victim after the families are notified.
