MOSS BLUFF, La. (KPLC) - With wildfire season quickly approaching in August, many firefighters are practicing with new equipment. Ward 1 Fire Department has what they call “Brush Buggies,” a type of side-by-side four-wheel drive vehicle equipped to hose down fires.
“This is so much nicer, it’s so much faster than the old school way of using tools and all that other stuff. And plus, we have way more reach with this little buggy than we would with a fire truck...ya know getting really deep in the woods of getting off the road,” Robert Watson, a firefighter said.
Firefighters work 24-hour shifts, and part of the hours they are working right now are dedicated to wildfire preparation, ensuring that if a fire breaks out, they’ll be ready.
