PHOENIX – The eastbound Loop 101 off-ramp at 27th Avenue closed Monday night for reconstruction as part of a freeway widening project west of Interstate 17, state transportation officials said.

Drivers can consider exiting Loop 101 at 35th Avenue and using the eastbound frontage road or Union Hills Drive to reach 27th Avenue, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The ramp is scheduled to reopen in late September.

Work on the $140 million project to widen Loop 101 between I-17 and 75th Avenue began in September 2024. In addition to adding one lane in each direction of the freeway, crews are widening several bridges, adding new freeway lighting and resurfacing the pavement, ADOT officials said.

The project is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2027.
