The Yankees continue to retool their roster on the margins.
After adding infielders Ryan McMahon and Amed Rosario last week, they landed White Sox outfielder Austin Slater on Wednesday, the team announced.
Pitching prospect Gage Ziehl, who has pitched in Single-A and Double-A this season, is headed to Chicago.
The right-handed hitting Slater, 32, mashes left-handed pitchers to the tune of an .859 OPS and .522 slugging percentage, bolstering the Yankees’ bench.
Overall this year, he’s slashing .236/.299/.423 with a .721 OPS in 51 games.
He has five home runs and 11 RBIs in limited action.
