Marco Kasper continues to flourish in 2025, from a strong second half of the season with the Detroit Red Wings to an impressive run at the World Championship to a strong showing in Austria’s Sunshine League.

Kasper pulled off an impressive feat in summer league this week by scoring what has become known as a Michigan goal.

The 21-year-old forward circled behind the net, scooped the puck with the blade of his stick and tucked it into the top far corner lacrosse-style.

Western Michigan’s Bill Armstrong developed the technique while playing in the AHL in the 1990s and Michigan’s Mike Legg gained fame by scoring this type of goal in the 1996 NCAA Tournament, hence the name.

Kasper was the leading scorer in the Sunshine League with 10 goals and 15 assists.
