Close to 3,000 transit employees who were injured on the job have had their workers’ compensation checks delayed due to failures by the MTA’s new claims-processing firm, the transport workers union said Wednesday.

TWU Local 100 protested the payment slowdown ahead of an MTA board meeting at which transit officials acknowledged that the agency is working toward turning the tide on delays that, in some cases, have left both active and retired work
