MT. VERNON, Ill. - One person has been arrested in connection to the deadly mass shooting that happened in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, over the weekend that claimed two lives and injured five others.
The Mt. Vernon Police Department has arrested 26-year-old Jamaro J. Kemmerling and charged him with two felonies, which include: • Aggravated discharge of a firearm • Unlawful possession of a firearm by a repeat felony offender
Detectives say their investigation is in its early stages, as they expect to make additional arrests and charges.
The Mt. Vernon Police Department—which is gathering various forms of evidence—is urging those who may have information about the shooting to contact them at 618-242-2131.
