CLEARWATER, Fla. — A police sergeant with Pinellas County Schools died Wednesday afternoon after participating in an active assailant exercise earlier in the day, officials with the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.

Sgt. Greg Graff, 61, was participating in an indoor classroom training at Clearwater High School when he collapsed and was transported to the hospital, officials said. He died there shortly after.

Graff worked for Pinellas County Schools Police for seven years. He previously served at the city of Douglasville Police Department in Georgia for 29 years.
