IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - Josh Sash remembers to time it felt real.
When he knew he was getting to work at an arena he grew up attending.
“I was working out, and I went down to Carver, and I was running the stairs,” said the Iowa assistant coach, who came over to Iowa as a part of Ben McCollum’s staff from Drake.
“It really hit me, like ‘you’re running the stairs at Carver Hawkeye Arena. This is where, as a kid growing up, this is where I wanted to play.”
It him. And it hurt.
“I got about halfway around. It literally took me, like 30 minutes,” said Sash. “And there’s no AC in there. It’s hot, so I was like ‘you know what I’m gonna fight this one another day.”
Sash’s road to Iowa City has spanned miles.
