Cyndi Lauper has been saying goodbye to her fans, at least on the road, since last October. But she promises that her current leg of the Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour is indeed her last.
“This is the last leg, yeah. It’s to say goodbye — to this chapter,” the Brooklyn-born Lauper, 72, who’s been employing a fitness regimen that includes weight training and vocal exercises, says via Zoom. “Right now, I’m strong, and I can do it. In a couple of years, I don’t know how I’m gonna be. Doing a tour, you have to give yourself to athleticism because my body is my instrument, and as a singer, if you want a strong voice, you need a strong body and you need to be able to breathe and all of that.
