Two teens are facing murder charges following the June 26 killing of a 15-year-old boy in northwest Charlotte.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department did not identify the juvenile suspects – one age 15, the other 16.

The 16-year-old suspect was also charged with conspiracy to commit murder and shooting into an occupied dwelling.

The authorities identified the victim as Avion Amelle Dingle.

According to a CMPD account of the incident, shortly before 11:30 p.m. on June 26, officers responded to multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots in the 1000 block of Merrick Street. When officers got there, they found Dingle with a gunshot wound. MEDIC pronounced him dead at the scene.
