WASHINGTON -- The United States will impose a 25% tariff on goods from India, plus an additional import tax because of India's purchasing of Russian oil, President Donald Trump said Wednesday.

"WE HAVE A MASSIVE TRADE DEFICIT WITH INDIA," Trump wrote on Truth Social. He followed quickly with another post, saying the United States had done "relatively little business" with India over the years "because their Tariffs are far too high." Trump also criticized India's economic ties with Moscow, saying the country was "Russia's largest buyer of ENERGY, along with China, at a time when everyone wants Russia to STOP THE KILLING IN UKRAINE."
