A man died from drug use and other health issues after being subdued with a Taser in May at a South Whitehall supermarket , not from police actions, investigators announced Thursday.
The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as 45-year-old Timothy Vanbilliard, of Emmaus. Vanbilliard was pronounced dead just before 3 p.m. May 11 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest in Salisbury Township.
He died from acute methamphetamine toxicity and hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease after losing consciousness while in police custody, authorities said. Conditions contributing to the death included chronic ethanol use, according to Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio, who ruled the death an accident.
