TACOMA, Wash. — The City of Tacoma will soon have a new mayor, and residents will decide who that person will be.

The primary election is on Tuesday, August 5 and the two candidates who receive the most votes will advance to the general election in November.

Current Mayor Victoria Woodards is not seeking reelection; she has served as mayor since 2018 and is not allowed to seek reelection due to term limits on the position.

There are six candidates vying to fill the open seat: John Hines, Anders Ibsen, Whitney Stevens, Steve Haverly, Jesse Carlos, and Tony Ginn.
