One person was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of drugs at a Fontana Police Department DUI Checkpoint on July 26.
The DUI checkpoint was held in the eastbound lanes of Foothill, east of Sierra, from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. Additionally, 15 individuals were cited for driving without a license, and 1,269 vehicles were contacted.
DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoint is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
