WATERTOWN — A near-perfect night by Harrisburg Gold standout Eli Kokenge put a little damper on Watertown Post 17's bid for its first state Class A American Legion Baseball championship in 94 years.
Kokenge, a University of Minnesota recruit, went 4-for-4 at the plate with three runs batted in and also tossed 1 1/3 innings of relief for the save in Harrisburg's 6-3 win over Watertown in a winner's bracket game on Wednesday, July 30 at Watertown Stadium.
Harrisburg's win came a four-game day that also included Rapid City Post 320's 6-0 win over Renner in the other winner's bracket game. In elimination games, Rapid City Post 22 held off Brandon Valley 11-9 and Yankton edged Pierre 3-2 on a walk-off hit in the bottom of the ninth inning.
