MT. PLEASANT, Utah (ABC4) -- A former Mt. Pleasant police officer has been charged after an internal investigation revealed he was working a second job while on duty and falsifying time logs to get additional pay.

Nathan Taylor, 41, has been charged with misusing public property valuing more than $5,000 and theft valuing more than $5,000, both second-degree felonies.

The North Valley Police Department was previously the Mt. Pleasant and Fairview Police Departments, but they officially merged as of July 1, 2025. Taylor was part of the Mt. Pleasant Police Department when the theft allegedly occurred. According to the chief, he was terminated prior to the merge
