More than 35 high school freshmen spent Friday afternoon “Rocketing into High School”.
The students, who will soon attend Santa Maria, Righetti and Pioneer Valley, explored the wonders of science by building their rockets on Thursday and then launching them on Friday near the Pioneer Valley baseball fields.
The ongoing program, which is staffed by district science teachers, is designed to get students interested in science as they begin their high school years.
“It’s all about having fun with science and learning that it is accessible to all,’’ said Righetti science teacher Colin Rodriguez. “This was an exciting and engaging experience for the students and teachers.’’
District students return to school on Aug. 14.
