Fulton-Walton Funeral Home and Cremation Services announced that Vicki Foster, who died Friday, will be laid to rest next week.

Foster was the highest-ranking woman in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) history. Foster joined CMPD in 1991 and served for about three decades.

During that time, she voiced concern about what she considered to be a lack of public outrage regarding Black-on-Black killings in Charlotte. She retired in 2020.

Mineral Springs Baptist Church, located in Pelham, will hold a viewing for Foster on August 6 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Foster will be lying in repose on August 8 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at First Baptist Charlotte with family visitation from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
