BOISE, Idaho – Idaho Governor Brad Little announced a one-time bonus of up to $5,000 for the state’s wildland firefighters and critical support staff. The bonuses are part of the “Keeping Promises” initiative aimed at retaining and recruiting fire personnel.
Governor Little emphasized the importance of supporting firefighters as they face the most dangerous part of the wildfire season.
“As we enter the busiest and most dangerous part of our wildfire season here in Idaho, and it is important we signal our strong support for the brave men and women who put their own safety on the line every time they head out for a fire… so the rest of us can stay safe,” he said.
The bonuses are intended as a meaningful way to express gratitude to those who risk their safety for others.
