ATLANTA — Georgia state Rep. Houston Gaines stepped into the race to succeed Rep. Mike Collins on Thursday, announcing his campaign for Congress.
State Rep. Gaines is a fourth-term member of the Georgia House, representing the 120th District that predominantly includes areas northeast of Athens.
The Republican is running to fill the 10th District congressional eat, which includes Athens and all or parts of 20 counties in the surrounding region. That seat is being vacated by Rep. Collins as he runs in 2026 for the U.S. Senate.
