(KTLA) -- Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman was arrested for multiple weapons violations after a traffic stop on Friday, authorities say.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed to KTLA in a statement that Perryman was initially stopped by deputies from the South L.A. Station for vehicle code violations.

“During their investigation, Mr. Perryman was arrested for multiple weapons violations,” an LASD spokesperson stated, adding that the veteran linebacker was cooperative throughout the investigation.

TMZ reported that he was “en route to the gun range when cops searched his car and found he had two [assault rifles] and three handguns in the trunk, with the rifles being non-compliant.”
