PORTSMOUTH, Va. — What began as a simple idea has blossomed into a full-fledged Hampton Roads basketball homecoming.

Former Booker T. Washington and Norfolk State guard Steven Whitley hosted the second edition of Home Is Where the Heart Is this week at Churchland High School — a community-driven hoops event featuring a free youth clinic on Friday followed by marquee all-star games spotlighting local high school standouts and professional players with 757 roots on Saturday.

Whitley teamed up with former college stars Briante Weber (Chesapeake/Great Bridge/VCU) and Nigel Ribeiro (Oscar Smith/Grambling State) to make it happen.
