AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - With only 11 days left until the Amarillo College volleyball’s team first scrimmage, some players that didn’t go too far from home said it was important for them to stay local and continue their passion for the game.

“I really love the community [in] Amarillo, and I mean staying home...community college saves money, and I also think that I really liked Scott as a coach,” Yuna Ng, a recent Tascosa grad and current Amarillo College freshman said. “He’s very professional...very knowledgeable, and I thought it was a very good opportunity for me to learn more about volleyball.”

Her new teammate, Jaz Martinez, just recently graduated from Vega High School, shared similar sentiments.

“I had a couple different offers for track [and] volleyball...but, I love Amarillo,” M
