An Augusta County businesswoman has been charged with construction fraud for failing to complete a house she received payment for.

The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office said Amy Argenbright of A&Co 2002 LLC was indicted by an Augusta County grand jury last Tuesday on a charge of failure to perform promise for construction in return for advances. She was released on an unsecured bond.

The sheriff’s office said it launched an investigation into Argenbright last September for alleged construction fraud. The allegation is that the victim paid Argenbright $366,000 for the construction of a single-family residence in eastern Augusta Country but the residence was never finished.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation is ongoing and may involve victims in multiple jurisdictions.
