Less summer travel and the fact the U.S. is producing more oil are some factors as to why local gas prices are being held at bay from rising, according to Dale Rogers, a supply chain expert at Arizona State University.

There have been “a lot less” Canadians who traveled to Arizona this year, in part because of animosity toward President Donald Trump and frayed relations between the two countries, Rogers said.

In Phoenix, the current average for a gallon of regular unleaded gas is $3.20 — 26 cents per gallon cheaper than it was a year ago, according to the AAA website.

Both Glendale and Peoria are averaging $3.26 per gallon as of July 28, according to the AAA website.
