CHICAGO — Democrats at both the state and national level spoke Monday evening from Chicago after more than 40 Democratic state legislators left the state Sunday afternoon to deny Republicans a quorum and delay their efforts to approve new congressional maps.
Texas House Democrats spoke from Illinois Tuesday alongside Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, Illinois. Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton, and Democratic National Committee Chair Ken Martin, among others.
Stratton called the fight over redistricting in Texas "the voting rights fight of our lifetime."
"Right now, we are facing the voting rights fight of our lifetime. Donald Trump and Texas Republicans are staging a blatant attempt to strip voting rights and rig the next election," Stratton said.
