WESTFIELD, Ind. (WISH) — The ninth day of training camp practice for the Indianapolis Colts came to an abrupt stop midway through as running back Salvon Ahmed went down in the end zone with a severe leg injury.
Ahmed was taken to the ground with an illegal hip-drop tackle from rookie safety Trey Washington.
The entire Colts team surrounded Ahmed while he was on ground for multiple minutes before trainers eventually lifted him on to a stretcher. Quarterback Anthony Richardson and defensive lineman DeForest Buckner were among the Colts players consoling Ahmed right after the injury.
The five-year veteran left practice with a towel covering his face.
Head coach Shane Steichen opened up his post-practice media availability addressing the situation.
