TEXAS, USA — Texas Governor Greg Abbott is threatening serious legal consequences for Democratic members of the Texas House who left the state to block a vote on a GOP-backed congressional redistricting plan.

More than 51 Democratic members of the House quietly flew to cities like Chicago, Boston and Albany on Sunday afternoon.

In a statement released Sunday night, Abbott accused the lawmakers of intentionally abandoning their elected duties and said they could face removal from office.
