MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) — Volunteers rolled up their sleeves Saturday to help beautify a Montgomery neighborhood as part of the “Sweep the Street” campaign.
The effort brought together members of the City of Montgomery’s Neighborhood Services Department and volunteers from Maxwell Air Force Base’s Air Command and Staff College. The group focused their cleanup at the Regency Park Community Center, where they picked up trash, pulled weeds and cut overgrown grass.
Organizers said the goal of the event was not only to improve the appearance of the area but also to encourage residents to take pride in their community and do their part to keep it clean.
