The Missouri Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Task Force has been meeting for the past three summers to find ways to help addicts stay sober. From homelessness and incarceration to joblessness and healthcare costs, addiction influences Missouri’s well-being.
This summer, the task force’s focus is reviewing ways to expand transportation options for people who are seeking treatment. The group is made up of several state legislators and experts in the field.
Brenden Steenburgen, with the Missouri Coalition of Recovery Support Providers, said the state struggles to meet the transportation needs – putting people at risk of relapsing.
