George Shotwell Roudebush, Docteur des Lettres (Universite de Montpellier, 1972) born May 24, 1941, died on July 29, 2025 following a courageous 18-year battle with lymphoma, surrounded by those closest to him, most prominently Gabriele (“Gaby”) Lieder, characterized by George as the only women he had ever met who knew how to deal with him. He was 84 years old.
In his inimitable style, George declared that having arrived in the world he decided early in life to make his presence known, beginning at Flynn Park Elementary School, where he played first clarinet, joined the Student Enrichment Group (soon to be expelled), and was revered by sixth-grade teacher Verna Mayer for serious promise in math.
