Both directions of Colorado 9 in Grand County are closed Monday following a fatal crash with an unknown number of victims.
Colorado State Patrol responded around 7:17 a.m. to a crash involving two vehicles near mile-marker 136, the agency said in a news release.
The man driving one of the vehicles, an F-150, was transported to a hospital by air for life-threatening injuries, CSP said. All occupants of the other car, an SUV, were pronounced dead at the scene. First responders were unable to confirm the number of people in the vehicle due to extensive damage and fire to the vehicle, authorities said.
Travelers should expect an extended road closure, and there is no estimated time when it will be reopened.
Any witnesses of the incident are urged to call Colorado State Patrol dispatch at 9
