A 77-year-old man was killed in a “machinery accident” at a farm on Sunday morning in New Jersey.

First responders were called to Hunter’s Farm in Cinnaminson at 10:16 a.m. where John Howard Hunter, 77, was found with fatal injuries after a “machinery accident.”

“As many of you have already heard, our family suffered a tragic loss today of the family patriarch,” the farm said in a statement . “Do me a favor, in his honor, tell those who are important to you that you love them. Give them a hug, a kiss, a phone call, life can change in an instant.”

The Hunter family has operated the farm since the 18th century and run a seasonal farmer’s market focusing on fruits and vegetables.

The family said the farm, which is closed on Mondays, would be closed until further notice.
