PHILADELPHIA — President Donald Trump on July 31 issued an executive order naming Eagles running back Saquon Barkley among the athletes on his Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition. Only problem is, Barkley says he isn’t actually on the council.
“Umm, yeah, a couple of months ago it was brought to my team about the council, so I’m not really too familiar with it,” Barkley, pausing and smiling, said during training camp at NovaCare Complex on Monday. “I felt like I’m going to be super busy. So, you know, me and my family thought it was probably in the best interest to not accept that.
“Was definitely a little shocked when my name was mentioned,” he said. “But, you know, I’m assuming it’s something great, so I appreciate it, but was a little shocked when my name was mentioned.”
