August is here, which means that before we know it, summer will be over. This doesn’t mean your list of garden tasks should dwindle, though. In fact, there are a few things you should take care of this month to ensure your flowers flourish through the end of summer and well into fall.
According to Tammy Sons, horticulturist and CEO of TN Nursery, deadheading should be at the top of that list this month. “It is prime deadheading time , when a little extra attention can bring on a second show and prolong blooming,” says Sons. “It’s one of my favorite gardening tasks in August.”
