TEXAS, USA — Fifty-eight members were absent on Monday afternoon when the Texas House of Representatives gaveled in for their meeting on redistricting.
Lawmakers were unable to convene at 3 p.m. for a floor vote to decide upon redistricting in the state's congressional districts. The meeting was initially set for 11:30 a.m., but was later pushed back.
It was unable to be held because not enough members were present.
On Sunday afternoon, at least 51 of the 62 Texas House Democrats flew from Austin to Chicago , with several others traveling to Boston and Albany, New York.
