Chicago Cubs pitcher Michael Soroka was taken out of Monday’s game against the Cincinnati Reds after just two innings.
Soroka, acquired at the trade deadline from the Washington Nationals, was making his debut start for the Cubs. He was removed from the game after two innings of work, giving up a solo home run while striking out three batters and walking one on 31 pitches.
According to the Cubs, Soroka was removed from the game after experiencing discomfort in his pitching shoulder.
Ben Brown, who last pitched on July 27 against the Chicago White Sox, came in to replace Soroka on the mound.
Soroka started 16 games for the Nationals this season, with a 3-8 record and a 4.87 ERA. He has 87 strikeouts in 81.1 innings of work.
