It's been 34 years since Watertown Stadium served as a host site for the South Dakota state Class A American Legion Baseball Tournament.

The 2025 state tourney opened on Tuesday, June 29 and is scheduled to continue through the championship game or games on Saturday, Aug. 2 (weather permitting, of course).

The possibility of rain has now popped on on weather forecasts for Saturday, but Watertown officials will certain remain hopeful that 2025 doesn't turn into a repeat of 1991.

Looking back at 1991

Ray Rylance, the grandfather of current Watertown Post 17 ace Kaden Rylance, was president of what at the time was called the Watertown Baseball Parents Association. He definitely played a big role in getting Watertown selected as the host site for the tourney.
