College football is nearly here, and with it, the first major preseason poll was released on Monday.

The US LBM Coaches Poll, which compiles votes from 67 FBS Division 1 coaches, ranked the Clemson Tigers 6th and the South Carolina Gamecocks 13th in its initial top 25 of the season. Clemson was one of five teams to receive a first-place vote.

This is the first time the Gamecocks have been ranked in the preseason poll since 2014.

Texas, Ohio State, Penn State, Georgia, and Notre Dame were ranked in the top 5, with the Longhorns, Buckeyes, Nittany Lions, and Bulldogs all earning first-place votes.

Clemson opens its season at home against No. 9 LSU on Saturday, Aug. 30 at 7:30 p.m., while the Gamecocks face Virginia Tech at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Sunday, Aug. 31 at 3 p.m.
