It appears that three Democratic political families will be fighting for one Central Valley Assembly seat, along with one Republican.
Sanger City Councilmember Esmeralda Hurtado, the sister of Sen. Melissa Hurtado (D–Bakersfield), has filed paperwork to run for the Assembly, according to the California Target Book.
Driving the news: Hurtado, who was elected to the Sanger City Council in 2020 and reelected last year, filed paperwork with the state to run in Assembly District 31. • AD 31 is currently represented by Joaquin Arambula (D–Fresno), who is foregoing a final term in office to run for the Fresno City Council.
