We are currently in the midst of a deportation tsunami, marked by workplace raids, immigration sweeps, stigmatization of foreign nationals, privacy invasions, occupational and nationality profiling, rollback of humanitarian programs, expanded detention, family separation, enforcement overreach and judicial shortcuts.

What is terribly unclear are the two fundamental points that would explain the stridency of this policy: What does our deportation policy seek to accomplish, and is this the best method to achieve our national goal of building a better, stronger nation?
