In case you missed it, a political drama is playing out in Texas. The Republican leadership there is intent on redistricting to gerrymander more seats for Republicans in Texas’ Congressional delegation. In response, Democrats in the state legislature left the state, attempting to stall the passage of the newly cut map by denying the legislature a quorum. Texas requires that two-thirds of the legislature be present in order to conduct business, and the Democrats represent more than one-third of legislators in both the state House and Senate.
