The family of John Wheeler, longtime owner of Floyd's Inc., has announced his death. According to a statement by the family, John died Saturday morning.
John's immediate family, including his wife Ruth Wheeler and children, Jacob and Emma Wheeler, said John had a heart attack on Thursday morning and was transported to a Wichita hospital for treatment. He remained in critical condition in the ICU until his death Saturday morning.
"Thank you for the prayers," the family said.
John was a well-known and well-respected business owner in Emporia. He owned and operated Floyd's Inc. for many years, succeeding Floyd McCracken, the founder of Floyd's. Floyd's Inc. celebrated 50 years in business in 2018.
