The GOP contest for Alabama attorney general, an open seat in 2026, is shaping up to be one of the most competitive, and expensive, contests on the ballot.

Former Alabama Supreme Court Associate Justice Jay Mitchell raised about $355,000 July, including a $100,000 contribution from the Business Council of Alabama’s Progress PAC. The PAC endorsed Mitchell last month .

Katherine Robertson raised nearly $89,000 last month. Robertson also reported on Monday a $100,000 contribution from First Principles Action, Inc., a non-profit in Nashville run by the former executive director of the Republican Attorneys General Association. In June, Robertson received $1 million from the organization .
