According to a report from Greg Joyce, Boone addressed Austin Slater’s status following the game. The veteran outfielder, who had hit five home runs for the White Sox this season, was brought in to help solidify the Yankees’ lineup and potentially add to his .220-plus batting average.

The injury occurred in the first inning after Slater reached first base. Observers noted his running speed had clearly diminished, and he was removed shortly after, replaced by Jasson Domínguez.
