MADISON COUNTY, Ind. -- The Anderson Police Department is investigating a crash that killed a person after a police pursuit that began in Alexandria on Tuesday morning.

According to the Alexandria Police Department, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a truck shortly after 2 a.m. near Washington Street and North Park Avenue.

Alexandria Police Chief Michael Montgomery said the driver allegedly ignored these commands and continued driving into Anderson, where the vehicle crashed near 17th Street and Jackson Street.

Montgomery confirmed the crash led to the death of one person inside the truck. Police have not confirmed how many occupants were inside the truck when the crash occurred.
