A search was underway Tuesday for someone who was heard crying out for help along a canyon trail in the Tarzana area.

Ground and air units from the Los Angeles Fire Department were scouring an area of remote terrain along the Caballero Canyon Trail north of Mulholland Drive, according to department spokesman Brian Humphrey.

The search was launched at about 8:15 a.m. Tuesday after a mountain biker heard what sounded like an “older person” calling out for help.

“The LAFD has no reports of any persons missing in the area,” Humphrey said.
