Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen, who are on track to finish their careers as Penn State’s top two rushing leaders, were named Tuesday to the Doak Walker Award watch list.
The Doak Walker Award is presented to the nation’s most outstanding running back and honors the former SMU running back and 1948 Heisman Trophy winner.
Penn State is one of 28 FBS schools with two running backs on the list, joining Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Oregon, UCLA and USC from the Big Ten.
Singleton, a former Gov. Mifflin star, has been named to preseason All-America first teams selected by the Walter Camp Football Foundation, Phil Steele’s College Football Preview, Lindy’s Sports, Athlon Sports and Pick Six Previews.
He also was named to the watch lists for the Walter Camp Player of the Year award and the
